The BeltLine Lantern Parade is a community crafted paper lantern procession heralding the development of the Atlanta BeltLine, a nationally acclaimed urban re-development project. In 2012, we had 1250 participants. Not spectators, participants!
The Atlanta BeltLine is connecting the city physically and socially. The Beltline Lantern Parade serves our communities by creating an artful platform for individuals to participate in building a collective social tradition, and to walk together down the tracks that once separated them. It is an experiential illustration of how the brilliance of individuals illuminates their communities.
By the virtue of tradition, the BeltLine Lantern Parade is fostering enduring bonds between people and their new public space through active creative placemaking. The 2013 parade is schedule for Saturday, September 7th!
